Coral council to discuss
new marine reserve


The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve Advisory Council will meet Oct. 16 and 17 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. The meeting is open to the public.

The meeting will start a three-year term for newly chosen council members and alternates. The council will review operations, vote in new leadership and discuss upcoming activities to the proposed designation of a National Marine Sanctuary in the region.

The council was set up to help plan for a marine sanctuary and operating the reserve.
