The junior was the only Rainbow named to the first or second teams selected by the conference's 10 coaches. English is the 11th UH player to earn a spot on the first team.
UH guard Michael Kuebler, a transfer from Clackamas Community College in Oregon, was named to the All-WAC Newcomer team. Senior point guard Mark Campbell made the All-Defensive team.
SMU swingman Quinton Ross earned Player of the Year honors and his teammate, guard Bryan Hopkins, was named Freshman of the Year.
Ray Lopes, who led Fresno State to the WAC regular-season title in his first year, won the Don Haskins Coach of the Year award.
English was a second-team pick last season and led the conference in scoring for much of the season. He finished second to Ross at 19.3 points per game.
Ross won the WAC scoring title with 19.9 points per game (20.3 in WAC games) and averaged 6.9 rebounds.
Joining English and Ross on the first team were Fresno State guard Damon Jackson, Louisiana Tech forward Antonio Meeking, Tulsa forward Kevin Johnson and Nevada forward Kirk Snyder.
Second team selections were Dante Swanson (Tulsa), Omar-Seli Mance (Rice), Hiram Fuller (Fresno State), Terrance Green (Nevada), Michael Harris (Rice) and Jason Parker (Tulsa).
Kuebler was Hawaii's second leading scorer with 12.3 points per game. He also shot 81 percent from the free-throw line (70-for-86).
Campbell led the WAC with 171 assists, 57 more than second place Rashid Smith of Rice. He was also fourth in steals with 1.7 per game.
WAC tournament opens tomorrow: San Jose State and UTEP meet tomorrow in a preliminary round game to open the WAC tournament at Tulsa's Reynolds Center.
The winner advances to face top-seeded Tulsa in Thursday's quarterfinals.
The semifinals are Friday and the championship is set for 4 p.m. Hawaii time Saturday. The title game will be televised on ESPN2.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be carried by ESPN Full Court. Local television coverage is yet to be determined.
Fifth-seeded Hawaii (17-10, 9-9 WAC) will face No. 4 seed Rice in Thursday's quarterfinal (2 p.m. HST). The Rainbows are the two-time defending tournament champions.
Weekly honor to Harris: Rice sophomore Michael Harris won the season's final WAC Player of the Week award.
Harris averaged 25 points and 9.5 rebounds in games with Nevada and Fresno State last week.
Hawaii forward Phil Martin was nominated for the award.
