The "Dino Island" ride is a race against time to cap a volcano about to explode.
The featured attraction this year is something called the iWERKS Reactor Theatre TurboRide, which combines high-definition television, high-fidelity sound and theater seats that transmit every bump, vibration and motion on the screen.
Other attractions include E.K. Fernandez Midway rides, Kachunga and the Alligator show - an American "bushman" who wrestles a 300-pound alligator - the Hawaii Amateur Boxing Association Tournament, BMX bike and skateboard performances and musical acts including Ho Aikane and Tropical Knights.
Founded in 1986 by two former Walt Disney executives, iWERKS Entertainment creates short movies with the high impact of theme park rides.
iWERKS productions have been viewed by more than 100 million people, and now audiences in Hawaii will have a chance. E.K. Fernandez Shows is bringing in the iWERKS Reactor Theatre TurboRide, a portable edition of an iWERKS production, to the 50th State Fair.
The three featured "rides" are:
Each seat in the Reactor Theatre has a "motion base" that is synchronized with the image; when the airplane banks to the right, so does the seat.
The footage used in the productions is either shot on location or it is computer-generated.
The base of business for iWERKS is creating attractions at theme parks such as Six Flags and Paramount Parks.
