A possibly pregnant monk seal hauled itself onto Richardson's Beach yesterday in Hilo. The seal, dubbed "Lighthouse Mom" by volunteers, has given birth to six pups in the past six years, said Melissa Netze, coordinator for the Hilo Marine Mammal Response Network. Fisherman Bruce Dato watched as the monk seal fell asleep after crawling onto the sandy beach.
