KEIKI HULA CHAMPIONS

Winners of the kahiko (ancient style) competition at this weekend's Keiki Hula Competition were the boys' group, above, Halau Kekuaokala 'Au 'Ala 'Iliahi (kumu hula Brandon and Haunani Paredes) and girls' group (below) Halau Mohala 'Ilima (kumu hula Mapuana DeSilva).

The competition took place Friday and Saturday at the Blaisdell Arena. The boys' halau also won the auana (modern) and overall titles. The girls' overall title went to Halau Hula Olana (kumu hula Howard and Olana Ai) and the girls' auana title to Hula Halau 'O Kamuela (kumu hula Kau'ionalani Kamana'o). Miss Keiki Hula was Marissa Medrano; Master Keiki Hula was TJ Idemoto. CLICK FOR LARGE
