She was handed a tissue as she was comforted by other grads, Amanda Chang, left, Tihon Nguyen and Sara Kaiser. School founder Barbara Cox Anthony, who recently died, was honored at the ceremony. FARRINGTON'S FINESTFL MORRIS / FMORRIS@STARBULLETIN.COMDioreme Amor Navasca received the 2007 Wallace Rider Farrington Memorial Scholarship last night during a reception in the school's library. Navasca, 18, plans to major in biology at the University of Hawaii and attend medical school. She was enrolled in Farrington's Health Academy for students planning careers in the medical field. She also served as senior class vice president and participated in the National Honor Society, JROTC and Farrington's drama program. Star-Bulletin Editorial Page Editor Mary Poole, left, and Charles Hite, * great-grandson of Wallace Rider Farrington, presented the award to Navasca. The academic scholarship, worth $20,000 for four years of full tuition to UH-Manoa, was established in 1943 by a Honolulu Star-Bulletin endowment to honor Wallace Rider Farrington, a founder of the newspaper and a former governor of Hawaii.
