Museum director to speak
Lonnie G. Bunch, founding director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., will deliver the keynote address for the Second Winter Institute on Black Studies.
The University of Hawaii's Faculty of African Descent presents the free conference on issues of race. Events begin Thursday with a reception and dinner at the Ala Moana Hotel and continue with round-table discussions on Friday at the East-West Center's Imin International Conference Center.
Bunch's talk, "The Fire This Time: The Challenge of Interpreting African American Culture in American Museums," will be given Thursday.* Tickets for the dinner are $50 each.
