‘Feng Shui’ is finished
at the Hyatt
First it was "Audiolab," then "Club DeVille. Now I have the unfortunate task of telling you about the demise of "Feng Shui."
Even though the poolside party at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki officially ended Aug. 27, I still got phone calls last weekend from friends who weren't in the know. According to Partymasters Hawaii's Justin Yoshino, the time had come to pull the plug.
None of the promoters involved are disappearing -- they've just decided to focus elsewhere after more than two years of working together. Matty Liu has the "Chemistry Lounge" at the Sheraton Waikiki, while G-Spot maintains his involvement at Indigo for "Get Fresh!" and continues to promote concerts.
Former co-promoters Architechs Hawaii are now busy with Jackie's Kitchen and Chai's Island Bistro on the weekends. And Yoshino set up shop at E&O Trading Company, with his "Spice Lounge" picking up steam these past few weeks ...
SPEAKING OF E&O, check out the Ward Centre restaurant tomorrow for a new twist on Yoshino's Friday night party.
Starting this month, the crew from DFX Entertainment will be teaming up with Partymasters to present "Bushido." My guess is the crowd will be a little younger for this one, and the music won't go back to the '70s as much as it does on other Fridays there ...
AND IF you haven't heard, the monthly "Pussycat Junkies" party at Compadres seems to have disappeared along with the end of summer.
Promoters Russ Inouye and Flash Hansen wrote in an e-mail that the two are "currently shopping for a new venue," but I wonder if anything will happen, since Inouye is still working hard on "Rockstar Fridays" at Hard Rock Cafe and Hansen has his hands full with "SKYLiNE" and his gig at the Wave Waikiki ...
LOOKING FOR something to do tonight? There's no shortage of options this week.
Head over to Zen Nightclub for "The L.A. Asian Invasion," which features two female DJs from the City of Angels. DJs Imi and Oakason will be on hand to showcase their talents, and you can't go wrong with $1 drinks all night long.
At Bliss Nightclub, Freekflow Entertainment rocks out tonight during its "Island Voices" music showcase. Crucile and Dagra headline the 18-and-over weekly that starts at 8 p.m.
And Tony Pisculli e-mailed to let folks know about a Hurricane Katrina benefit show at The ARTS at Mark's Garage. Local improv troupes On the Spot and Loose Screws will perform, with the door proceeds given to the American Red Cross. Call 531-3113 if you can't make it, but would still like to donate ...
