BYUH, HPU finish Classic undefeated

Hawaii teams went 7-2 on the final day of the Hawaiian Style Classic yesterday on the University of Hawaii-Hilo campus.

Brigham Young-Hawaii came back from a 2-1 deficit after three games to defeat Central Washington in five games, winning 16-14 in the fifth. The Seasiders later finished the tournament with a sweep of Northern State, while Hawaii Pacific ended with a 6-0 record after sweeping Seattle and Alaska Anchorage. Chaminade swept Northern State early in the day, but dropped its first match of the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Central Washington. Host Hawaii-Hilo lost to Doane (Neb.) 3-0, and Seattle 3-1.

QB Club gears up for UH football season

University of Hawaii acting president David McClain, Warrior football head coach June Jones and defensive coordinator Jerry Glanville are the guest speakers at tomorrow's Honolulu Quarterback Club.

The program starts at noon following an 11:30 a.m. luncheon at the Pagoda Ballroom. The public is invited.

Football Classic tickets go on sale tomorrow

Tickets for the 2005 HHSAA Foundation Football Classic go on sale tomorrow at Aloha Stadium, University of Hawaii ticket outlets, and by Aloha Stadium's charge-by-phone line.

The Sept. 10 doubleheader features Saint Louis facing Utah 5A state champion Davis at 5 p.m., while Punahou goes up against 4A champion Timpview at 8 p.m.

Presale tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students K-12. Game-day tickets run $17 and $9, respectively. For more information, visit www.sportshigh.com.

» Individual match tickets in the "Super Rooter" section for the 2005 University of Hawaii women's volleyball season go on sale tomorrow.

Tickets, which are $6, can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, UH Campus Center, Rainbowtique, and Windward Community College.

GAPP hosts Indonesian martial arts workshop

The Globally Aware Professional's Program for young professionals and the Pencak Silat School of Honolulu will host a self-defense workshop at the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Center in the Aina Haina Shopping Center on Sept. 18.
