A craft-making period followed one of the Storytime sessions at Kalihi-Palama Public Library. The children show boxes they made. In the front, 4-year-old Brooke Carruthers proudly shows her "bunny rabbit" box.

Libraries host
summer storytimes

The Hawaii State Public Library System is hosting free Children's and Young Adult Summer Reading Programs through July.

In celebration of the program, a handful of Oahu libraries will host free demonstrations by Doug Beter and his Rainbow Pigeons, ending with the release and flight of his multi-hued racing pigeons into the sky.

Beter will be at the Waialua Bandstand at 10 a.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. June 25 at the Mililani Public Library, and 3 p.m. June 29 at the Pearl City Library.
