‘Hawaiian Nights’
is live once more

After two weeks of taping performances for later airing on KFVE, "Hot Hawaiian Nights" returns to a live broadcast tomorrow at 7 p.m.

The Kekai Boyz kicked off the summer concert series on May 27, but scheduling conflicts forced producers to tape the next two shows featuring Koa'uka and Kalaeloa. The Ka'ala Boys will be on hand tomorrow when things get started at Ala Moana Center's Mai Tai Bar.

Next week, "Hot Hawaiian Nights" moves to Honolulu Hale for a live performance by Ho'onu'a, then it's back to Mai Tai's with Sean Na'auao on July 1. The concerts continue every Friday through Aug. 19 ...

ON THE concert tip: The granddaddy of all island music jams, KCCN FM-100's "Birthday Bash," is set for July 29 and 30 at the Waikiki Shell.

Now in it's 15th year, the concerts will feature B.E.T., Fiji, Kapena, Keahiwai, Koa'uka, Malino, Natural Vibrations and One Groove. More acts will be added over the coming weeks.

Tickets, available at all Ticketmaster outlets, are just $15 until the end of June. Call 296-1003 ...

ALSO COMING up is the seventh annual "Love Festival," presented by Go Ventures, Double-O Spot and DFX on July 30 at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park.

Both the East Coast and West Coast will be represented to the fullest, with Florida DJs Baby Anne, Craze and Keith Mackenzie making the trip along with Los Angeles DJs Mizota, Kam, Reza and Josh David. Philadelphia's MC Armanni will also perform.

Presale tickets are currently available at the waterpark, Hungry Ear Records, Hawaii's Natural High, Jelly's, Skybox, Too Gruvz, The Beat and the UH-Manoa Campus Center. Call 591-3500 or visit www.thelovefestival.com for more info ...

AND I don't have all the details just yet, but the rumblings are that Weezer and The Backstreet Boys are also planning visits to Hawaii. Check back here for complete details once they're available ...

FANS OF mixed martial arts, take note -- more big names are making the trip to Oahu to throw down at Blaisdell Arena next month.

Tickets go on sale Saturday for "Extreme Wars X-1," presented by the folks at Platinum Limousine. Headlining the card is Dan "The Beast" Severn versus Marcelo Tiger, with former UFC champion Ricco Rodriguez taking on Reuben Villarreal. A number of local fighters are also featured, including Ronald Jhun, Harris Sarmiento and Mark Moreno.

"Extreme Wars X-1" takes place on July 2, with the first bout starting at 7 p.m. Tickets, priced from $35 to $100, will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets ...
