Ala Moana Hotel special includes $50 mall gift card

The Ala Moana Hotel has introduced a "Hot Summer in the City" kamaaina package good through Sept. 30.

The package includes ocean-view accommodations for up to three guests, plus a $50 Ala Moana Center gift certificate and two beverage coupons for a cocktail at one of the hotel's restaurants or lounges.

The rate of $123 per night is valid for stays Sunday through Thursday, with a two-night minimum stay. Proof of Hawaii residency is required.

Molokini tour plunges guests into adventure

Trilogy Excursions is rolling out a new sailing adventure, "Extreme Molokini," for guests up for a speed-sailing trek to the crescent-shaped volcanic crater Molokini for lunch, snorkeling and scuba diving for a few hours in the marine sanctuary.

Snorkel gear is provided, and there are scuba dive upgrades available. Before reaching Molokini, guests can enjoy a lunch of chicken wraps and homemade salsa with tortilla chips, served with water and nonalcoholic beverages of choice.

Check-in for "Extreme Molokini" is at 1:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Slip No. 99 (behind the Coast Guard) in Maalaea Harbor, with a return time at approximately 5:15 p.m.

The cost is $73.25 with tax per person for adults, and $36.63 for children ages 3 to 15.

The One-Tank Certified Dive upgrade requires a certification card and takes divers exploring the marine life of Molokini crater. The cost is $52.02 per person with tax. The One-Tank Intro Dive upgrade is for those curious about scuba diving and costs $62.64 per person with tax.
