Parrow commits

The University of Southern California made David Parrow an offer he could not refuse.
Parrow, a 5-foot-8 left-hander for Kamehameha, has agreed to play baseball next season for USC. Whitworth College and the University of San Diego were the only other schools to show serious interest. USC is out of scholarships, which means it will provide Parrow a financial-aid package to get him on campus.
"They said I have a big heart and I give my all," Parrow said of USC assistant coach Andy Mieto's feedback. "They like that I don't show my frustration."
A trip to the mainland last summer for a tournament was the clincher.
Mauricio's father, Wade, played for UH in the 1980s.
"Playing for UH, you get more local recognition. I wanted to play D-I baseball, and New Mexico was the only one to offer," said Mauricio, who plays second base, shortstop and a little third. Hawaii and Southern Utah showed some interest, he added.
Parrow and Mauricio join teammate Nick Freitas as Kamehameha's Division I-bound prospects. Like Freitas, Parrow attended a camp at UH in October.
