Wahine dominate All-WAC volleyball team

Hawaii has dominated Western Athletic Conference volleyball ever since joining the league in 1996. That domination continued today when the WAC announced its 15-Year All-WAC team, as determined by an Internet fan vote.

Hawaii players make up the entire first team with all six of the Wahine nominated earning a spot. Named were Kim Willoughby, Heather Bown, Lily Kahumoku, Angelica Ljunguist, Kanoe Kamana'o and Nikki Hubert.

Wahine softball alumnae game today

April Crowell, Justina Kahaku and Kea Yamaguchi, members of the 2004 Hawaii softball team, return today for their first alumnae game when former players take on the varsity at 5 p.m. at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Admission is free.

Goldstein advances to semifinals

Paul Goldstein outlasted Zybnek Mylnarik 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 yesterday to advance into today's semifinals of the Waikoloa Village USTA Challenger on the Kohala Coast.

Goldstein won the 2-hour and 30-minute match to face Jeff Salzenstein, who defeated Andre Sa 6-1, 6-4. Cecil Mamit will face Brazilian Andre Sa in the other semifinal match.

Ruth does in Vulcans

Former Kamehameha alum Keoni Ruth drove in a run as San Diego routed the Hawaii-Hilo baseball team 18-0 in 7 innings last night at Francis Wong Stadium.

Gavin Ng, a Mililani alum, scored twice for the Toreros (3-3).

Elimimian getting an education

At this point, former Hawaii defensive back Abraham Elimimian projects to be drafted on the second day of the NFL Draft as a nickel back.

"He doesn't have the flat-out speed of some of the other cornerbacks," an NFL scout said. "But he's aggressive and versatile. He's a guy who (the Senior Bowl) can help, including special teams."

Elimimian, who will play for the North squad, has improved each day in practice despite the talent around him.

"It has been real intense; the first three days were really crazy," Elimimian said. "Don't get me wrong, this is a great experience, but it's crazy. Nobody told me it would be like this."
