Police captain arrested
in domestic abuse case

A Honolulu police captain and former police union president was arrested last week for allegedly abusing his girlfriend.
Kalihi Capt. Ray Ancheta was arrested on suspicion of two counts of abuse of a household member last Friday at the Kalihi substation and then released after posting bail.
Earlier that day, police arrested Ancheta's girlfriend, Veronica Trombley, for allegedly abusing him at her Waikiki apartment. She also was released after posting bail.
A source told the Star-Bulletin that after Trombley was arrested she told police about previous incidents during which Ancheta allegedly abused her.
After his arrest Ancheta was reassigned to a non-supervisory position at the Honolulu Police Department headquarters at 801 S. Beretania St.
Ancheta, a 22-year HPD veteran formerly served as president of the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) and was also a former member of the department's Specialized Services Division.
