A big friday night

AN EVENING WITH NEIL: Neil Sedaka, right, talked backstage with "Uncle Tom" Moffatt after opening a two-night engagement at the Hawaii Theatre. Sedaka shared an assortment of big hits and lesser-known work in the intimate 85-minute acoustic show. "Calendar Girl" got the most applause and audience participation. Sedaka also proved himself an engaging storyteller, recalling, for example, how Moffatt had decided to play the "B side" of his hit "Little Devil" on K-POI back in 1961. "Little Devil" hit No. 11 nationally, but "I Must Be Dreaming" was the hit here.

ANTICIPATING "NUTCRACKER": Firefighter Shawn Ball and gal pal Kamakoa Page enjoyed the vibe of Ian Fernandez's new "Club 25" party at Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. Page is dancing in Ballet Hawaii's big production of "Nutcracker" this weekend, and since Ball will be on duty, he's planning to catch a dress rehearsal.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!: Ian Fernandez welcomed Sylwia M. Kupiec, left, and Amy Jeuck to the kickoff of his weekly "Club 25" party at the new Sansei. A 50 percent discount on sushi was a great incentive to arrive early and get a table. Wine pourer Shanelle Pacheco helped make the wine-tasting booth popular well past 1 a.m.

A MAN, A KID AND TWO WOMEN: 102.7 Da Bomb's Sam the Man, second from left, and Bomb program director Kid Leo talked with Karen Vandenberg, left, and Kristi Ponce as "Club 25" got crowded. The layout and ambience meshed well, and the balcony was a welcome refuge for people who enjoy smoking a cigarette or two when they party.

SHERATON IS IN THE HOUSE: Sheraton Waikiki manager trainer Janice Tabuso joined Sheraton execs Ryan Laskey, left, Jeff Gionet and Richard Vidinha in checking out "Club 25." They were part of a larger group of Sheraton people out on the town helping Hanohano Room general manager Keith Mallini celebrate his birthday.
