>> Pitcharana Chaicharn has joined Seagull Schools in the newly created position of volunteer coordinator. She will develop and implement strategies to integrate volunteers into the educational programs of the school's four statewide campuses. She most recently served as AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer coordinator at Kaala Elementary, where she recruited and trained members of the community to serve as reading tutors.>> Firefly, an interactive marketing firm and sister company to Milici Valenti Ng Pack, has hired new staff members: Wade Lance as interactive designer, Allen Galiza as Web programmer, Bernice Arcenas as project manager and Sabrina Velazquez as project coordinator.
ON THE BOARD
>> Ron Huffman, of Ewa Beach Coral Creek Golf Course, has been elected president of the newly formed National Golf Course Owners Association Hawaii Chapter. Other board members are Vice President Ben Neely, Waikele Golf; Secretary-Treasurer Greg Nichols, Ko Olina Golf Club; Andrew Feldman, Oahu Country Club; Ted McAneeley, Mauna Kea Resort; Lois Parker, Pearl Country Club; and Gary Planos, Kapalua Golf Course. The chapter plans to focus on golf course valuation methods for property tax assessments. It also will lobby for water rights and a greater golf presence in Hawaii tourism efforts.
