Celebrate 'Midsummer'

Tickets go on sale Saturday for Ballet Hawaii's "Midsummer Night's Dance Celebration" June 27 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall, featuring stars from the San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet and Miami City Ballet, including headliner Amanda Schull from the film "Center Stage."

Highlighting the concert will be "Giselle Act II" with San Francisco Ballet dancers Julie Diana, Zachary Hench, Muriel Maffre, Benjamin Pierce, Amanda Schull and Tara Hench joining the Ballet Hawaii corps de ballet.

Schull will star in Balanchine's "Stairway to Paradise" from "Who Cares?" to the music of Gershwin, and will join the San Francisco Ballet's Joan Boada in "Flames of Paris."

Other works on the program include "Shogun" with Boada and Luis Serrano from the Miami City Ballet. "Agon," with music by Stravinsky and choreography by Balanchine, performed by Muriel Maffre and Benjamin Pierce from San Francisco Ballet; and the "Don Quixote" Pas de Deux performed by Katie Carrenza and Luis Serrano from Miami City Ballet, who were the headliners in Ballet Hawaii's 2002 production of "Nutcracker" as the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.

Tickets are priced at $25 to $45, with a $10 discount for students, seniors and military. Call 526-4400 to charge by phone.
