San Bernardino, Calif. >> Sarah Steele held Cal State-San Bernardino and the UH-Hilo softball team twice knocked out the Coyotes with 11-hit performances en route to a 9-1 and 9-0 sweep.

Wendy Layton had three hits in the two games, including a grand slam to help Tara Martinez win the second contest.

Sea Warriors split: At Chico, Calif., Mallory Anderson threw her first shutout of the season to help Hawaii Pacific split a doubleheader with Chico State.

The Sea Warriors lost the first game 1-0 but won the second game 3-0.

Crowell grabs award: Hawaii's April Crowell was named the WAC's player of the week for her performance in the Tar Heel Invitational this week. Crowell, who won the award earlier this year, went 4-for-5 with three RBIs.

Moralejo wins WAC weekly honor

Hawaii tennis player Reginaldo Moralejo went 5-1 in singles this week and picked up the team's first WAC player of the week award yesterday.

Moralejo, a senior from Bahia Blanca, Argentina, improved to 18-7 this season and has won five matches in a row.
