The public is invited to attend presentations to be given by candidates at the law school, 2515 Dole St., Classroom 3.
Three of the four candidates are:
>> Sylvia A. Law, an Elizabeth K. Dollard professor of law, medicine and psychiatry at New York University and co-director of the Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program. She graduated from New York University School of Law and has an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Antioch College.The name and background of the fourth candidate are being withheld for professional reasons and will be released prior to a campus visit in February.>> Aviam Soifer, professor and former dean at Boston College Law School. Soifer graduated from Yale Law School, with a master's degree in urban studies and a bachelor's degree in American studies, cum laude from Yale College.
>> John Yukio Gotanda, professor and director of the juris doctorate/master's of business administration program at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law and has a bachelor's degree in business administration from UH-Manoa.
Candidate presentations, followed by question-and-answer sessions, will be held as follows:
>> Law, Tuesday, 4 to 5:15 p.m.The position became vacant when Dean Lawrence Foster resumed his teaching position after serving 15 years in administrative positions at the law school. The search began after Foster announced his decision early last year.>> Soifer, Thursday, 4 to 5:15 p.m.
>> Gotanda, next Friday, 4 to 5:15 p.m.
