Silverswords can’t hang on
to 23-point halftime lead

TURLOCK, Calif. >> Roy Stigall was 1-for-9 and missed all six of his 3-point attempts as Chaminade blew a 23-point halftime lead in an 85-66 loss to Cal State Stanislaus last night.

The Silverswords went into halftime up 43-20, but allowed the Warriors to put up 65 points in the second half and scored only 23.

Leon Ballard led Chaminade (4-7) with 20 points and Byron Sykes added 11. Michael Ross pulled down 10 rebounds.

Jamal O'Quinn led the Warriors (4-4) with 29 points and Bernard McIntosh scored 20.

The Silverswords committed 22 turnovers and only dished out nine assists. Stanislaus only committed 15 turnovers.

Hawaii Pacific 90, Alaska Fairbanks 81: At Mid-Pacific Gym, Marvin Noble scored 29 points while Nic Walters and Leandro Maruoka each scored 21 and the Sea Warriors beat the No. 21 Nanooks.

Hawaii Pacific (6-1) won its fourth straight while Alaska Fairbanks (7-1) lost its first.

Marquis Revels led the Nanooks with 16 points.

Tulane AD to take on Quarterback Club

Tulane associate athletic director Scott Sidwell will address the Honolulu Quarterback Club tomorrow.

Also appearing will be UH assistant basketball coach Jackson Wheeler, women's track and cross country coach Carmyn James and distance runner Victoria Chang.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Restaurant in Honolulu; the program begins promptly at noon.

Bowl coaches get barefoot on the beach

Hawaii football coach June Jones and Tulsa coach Chris Scelfo and captains from both teams will be on hand at a pep rally at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Waikiki Beach.

The bands, mascots and cheerleaders from both schools will also attend. The ESPN movie "The Junction Boys" will be shown at 6:45 p.m.
