Choy, 27, has entered the tournament for several years but never won and says that she will put her $3,500 prize toward pursuing a professional career in the sport.
"I am shooting the best in my life right now," Choy said. "I have to go and find out because I might never get another chance."
Norman Banister took third place and Dennis Peralta fourth. Karen Hashimoto was the next woman finisher, placing seventh.
Hawaii men sweep triangular
Peter Thew, Kurt Boehm and Cheyne Bloch won three races each as the Hawaii men's swimming and diving team beat Central Washington 98-13 and Cincinnati 75-36 yesterday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Center. The UH women were 1-3.
Ballard, Silverswords start road trip with win
Leon Ballard scored 21 points and added 10 rebounds to help Chaminade over UC San Diego 89-83 at San Diego yesterday.The Silverswords (4-6) were 7-for-13 from 3-point land while the Tritons (2-4) were 10-for-29.

He is currently 11th in the PacWest in scoring with 13.1 points per game, shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from the line.>> Marvin Noble, Hawaii Pacific basketball: The junior point guard befuddled Northwest Nazerene Tuesday, scoring 17 points on 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc and dishing out four assists. Even though he was the team's leading scorer and tied with Nic Walters in assists, his greatest contribution came on the defensive end. Noble swiped seven steals away from Crusaders point man Larry Graves to take over the conference lead in the category.
