2 arrested for alleged sale of 'ice' to Marine
State narcotics agents, along with Navy and Marine Corps criminal investigators, have arrested two people who were allegedly delivering crystal methamphetamine, or "ice," to an enlisted Marine on base earlier this month.State field investigator Ed Howard said a 24-year-old Marine was turned in to military officials after he bragged about smoking ice in his barracks. He said he got the ice from a 19-year-old Kaneohe woman he met online, and she came to visit him Dec. 7.
Investigators set up a sting operation Saturday to buy more ice from the woman and arrested her when she arrived at the front gate to the base. Howard said she arrived with her 13-month-old son and the drugs in a diaper bag.
Navy and Marine investigators then set up another sting with the woman's supplier, identified as a 39-year-old Kailua man.
Investigators said the alleged supplier also showed up at the front gate with the ice and was arrested. Investigators seized an estimated 6 grams of ice from both suspects, along with 171 grams of powdered methamphetamine from a search of the Kailua man's car, Howard said.
Investigators also recovered a .38-caliber semiautomatic pistol and 60 rounds of various ammunition from the man's storage locker in Kaneohe, Howard said.

Big Isle police probe child abandonment
HILO >> Prosecutors are investigating child abandonment charges against a Big Island woman who lost track of her 4-year-old boy for three hours Monday. The boy was found alone outside the Hilo Wal-Mart store about 7:45 p.m. Monday, police officer Joel Field said.
The boy would not talk to anyone, so store officials announced six times in the store that a lost child was found, Field said.
They called police, who searched inside the store for adults responsible for the boy before turning him over to Child Protective Services for placement with a foster family.
The boy's mother showed up at the police station about 10:45 p.m. with a photo of the child, saying he was lost. She declined to make a statement and asked for a lawyer after he informed her of her rights, Field said.
