Lauae Jean Arashiro, 73, of Kauai, a kapuna with the Department of Education, died Tuesday in Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was born in Makaweli, Kauai. She is survived by husband Osamu "Shorty," sons Amos and Alvin, daughters Annabelle Fackrell and Cheryl L. and Laureen "Ari" Arashiro, hanai daughter Sasha Figueira, sisters Carolyn "Uluwehi" Kilauano and Wynnie Yee, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rufo Besario Enojardo Sr., 81, of Kohala, Hawaii, a rice farm owner in the Philippines, died Thursday in Queen's Medical Center. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Leonaida "Aida"; sons Lucio E., Rufo B. Jr., Eddie and Roger; daughters Flora Cafe, Merlita Derla, Estrella Federizo, Cecilia Gegayan, Arlene Soledad and Brenda Postrero; and 24 grandchildren. Walter Waianuhea Hoopii Sr., 73, of Honolulu, a retired warehouse clerk for Pearl Harbor Shipyard Restaurant, died Tuesday. He was born in Waipahu. Alfred Wah Chew Jay, 82, a World War II Purple Heart medal recipient, a commissioned officer in the Army Reserves and a retired supervisor at Pearl Harbor, died Sept. 3. Beatrice Funae Kawakami, 84, of Honolulu, a retired waitress for Sheraton Hotels, died Sept. 9 in Oahu Care Facility. She was born on Okinawa.
