The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Ceatech sees boost

Kauai shrimp producer Ceatech USA Inc., despite reporting a fiscal second-quarter loss that nearly doubled from a year ago, jumped 27.5 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company, which said its viability is in jeopardy without outside funding, closed yesterday at 51 cents after hitting an all-time low of 35 cents earlier in the week.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc., which is still awaiting word from federal regulators on whether it will be allowed to coordinate interisland seating capacity with Aloha Airlines, brought up the rear with a loss of 9.3 percent.
