[ EXTRA POINT ]
Brewster's return sparked UH offense
Hawaii's offense sputtered until its fifth possession last night. With less than a minute left in the first quarter, the Warriors' only first down was on a 27-yard run by quarterback Tim Chang. But big defensive plays -- like Hyrum Peters' 28-yard interception return for a touchdown -- kept UH in it. Special teams helped, too. The Warriors trailed 13-10 when Michael Brewster's 60-yard kickoff return gave Hawaii the ball at the Eastern Illinois 30 with 11:52 left in the first half.Three plays later, Chang and the rest of the offense got the confidence boost they needed when Chang hit freshman Nate Ilaoa for a 13-yard TD.
Hawaii took a 17-13 lead and never trailed again.

Cougars will have revenge on their minds
Hawaii's Warriors leave Tuesday for Provo, Utah, and the highly anticipated rematch with the Cougars of Brigham Young on Friday. BYU opened its season at home Thursday and beat Syracuse 42-21.Junior Bret Engemann appears ready to join the decades-long list of outstanding Cougar quarterbacks. He squeezed the Orangemen for 386 yards on 35-of-54 passing, including three touchdowns and one interception. BYU totaled 615 yards in offense.
The win was especially sweet for Engemann, because he was knocked out of a 42-14 loss to Syracuse in 2000 with a season-ending shoulder injury.
The Cougars want more revenge Friday; UH ended Brigham Young's 2001 regular season with a 72-45 rout.
