The Honolulu Star-Bulletin received six first place awards -- more than any other publication in the state -- at the annual Hawaii Publishers Association Pa'i Awards presentation yesterday. Star-Bulletin sweeps prizes

for journalistic excellenceBy Rosemarie Bernardo
rbernardo@starbulletin.comIn addition, it tied for most awards overall, with 16, at the event honoring Hawaii's print publications held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
The Star-Bulletin also swept the top three slots for investigative reporting. Reporter Rick Daysog placed first for his story on campaign contributions to Mayor Jeremy Harris and third for his article on Kamehameha Schools.
On Daysog's article on campaign contributions, the judges commented, "It is obvious that the Star-Bulletin and reporter Rick Daysog spend a lot of time and effort for its investigative reports. The Harris campaign is a story that must be told, and as a voice to the people, Daysog and the paper do an excellent job here."
Copy editor Dave Segal and reporter Russ Lynch placed second for their investigative report on American Classic Voyages.
The Star-Bulletin also topped five other categories for editorial column, sports reporting, spot news photography, excellence in design and excellence in illustration.
