to YamauchiYamauchi, 17, had a total lift of 446 pounds. His brother Bryce, 15, finished second in the 123-pound class with a 380-pound total.
Also, Chani Matsui and Kristel Ajifu finished second in their respective divisions. Matsui, 13, competed in the 93-pound class and lifted a total of 204 pounds.
In the 16-under, 106-pound division, Ajifu lifted a total of 231 pounds.
Thompson women's golf tournament on tap
The University of Arizona women's golf team returns to defend its title in the 16th Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, March 27-29, at Olomana Golf Links.The 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Hawaii, begins each day with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The event is named for the former UH women's athletic director.
Ford Island run set
The Ford Island Bridge 10K Run is scheduled for April 14.The 6.2 mile run begins at 7 a.m. at the entrance of the bridge. Runners cross over to Ford Island, then run a lap of the island.
The course circles around some of the most beautiful parts of the Island and back across the bridge, ending at Richardson Field.
The entry fee is $15 for military and $18 for civilians. The late fee is $25 after March 25.
Marathon clinic helps beginning runners
The Honolulu Marathon Clinic, a program geared for the recreational long-distance runner, is again being offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation.The clinic is held at 7:30 a.m. on Sundays at the Kapiolani Park office near the old golf course driving range rest area.
