The last customers to leave the restaurant proudly show
their receipts. Joanne Pontes, left, and Doug Boren were
the last paying customers, and Kainoa Li, right, was the
second to last. Li said he had been coming to Columbia
Inn since he was 15: He was given a gift certificate when
he became an Eagle Scout, as was the restaurant's practice.

Operations manager Alan Casupang, left, assistant manager
Ross Nishida, center, and general manager Tom Jones
congratulate each other as they close the Columbia Inn for
the final time. They were the very last to leave the longtime
Kapiolani Boulevard eatery and watering hole.
