Irwin, who has earned nearly $11.5 million and has won 28 tournaments in just five years on the Senior circuit, will be among six golfers in the 78-man field who have captured eight of the previous 13 Kaanapali Classic titles. The others are three-time winner Bob Charles, Orville Moody, George Archer, Jay Sigel and defending champ Bruce Fleisher.
HPU baseball tryouts
Tryouts for the Hawaii Pacific University baseball team will be held Monday at the Keehi Lagoon Field at 3 p.m.Only students enrolled full time at HPU are eligible. Players must bring their own equipment.

Senior Skins tickets
Tickets are available for the 2001 Senior Skins Game to be played at the Wailea Golf Club's Gold Course, Jan. 26-28.Tickets cost $60 for a three-day season pass and $25 for a daily pass. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticket-bearing adult.

Hockey games for charity
Ice hockey teams representing Seattle Microsoft and Hawaiian Airlines will play fund-raiser games at the Ice Palace Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 24 at 5 p.m.Proceeds from the games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities' Hawaii and Seattle chapters.

Festival golf at Ko Olina
The inaugural Ko Olina Resort & Marina French Festival Golf Invitational is Nov. 2 at the Ko Olina Golf Club.The format is a three-person scramble. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and includes a free bucket of balls for the driving range. The event has an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
The fee is $225 per person and includes lunch, refreshments and the awards reception.
The entry deadline is Oct. 26.
Compadres joins tailgate
Compadres Bar & Grill will be part of the Ward Centre Tailgate Party Program offered in conjunction with all University of Hawaii home football games.On Saturdays when the UH football team is playing at home, Compadres will provide a complimentary quesadilla bar from 3 to 5 p.m. and again from 10 p.m. to closing. Also, there will be drink specials.
The Ward Center program includes free parking, bus transportation to and from the games via Roberts Hawaii and a variety of prize giveaways and entertainment.

Safeway to feed field
Safeway is adding a special incentive for all participants in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Sept. 24 at Kapiolani Park.The grocery will serve a breakfast of burritos, bagels and cream cheese, fresh fruits, juice and coffee to all who enter the fund-raiser to fight cancer.
The five-kilometer run and one-mile walk start at 7:30 a.m.

Big bike ride on tap
The Ride of the AIG Century will be held Sept. 24.Riders should meet at the Kapiolani Community College campus at 5:30 a.m. The ride starts at 6:15.
