St. Louis moves
up in polls

The St. Louis School football team moved up in two national polls yesterday.

The Crusaders (12-1), avenging their only loss of the season with a victory over Kamehameha last Friday, went from 40th to 30th in the Fox Sports Net Fab 50 high school rankings. In the Dick Butkus Football Network Top 25, St. Louis went from No. 22 to No. 20.

Before its loss to Kamehameha two weeks ago, the Crusaders were No. 2 in the Butkus poll and No. 3 in the Fox Net ratings.

In the Fox West Regional rankings, St. Louis moved up two spots from seventh to fifth. Kamehameha fell out of the Fox poll.

Three crews reinstated in Molokai Hoe canoe race

Three teams which were originally disqualified in last month's Bankoh Hinano Molokai Hoe have been reinstated by race officials.

The teams, representing Waikiki Beach Boys, Tepaetia of Tahiti and Honolulu Canoe Club, were originally disqualified for failure to respond to radio checks. But those radio checks were later verified and the teams were reinstated into the final results list.

The change puts Waikiki Beach Boys sixth overall, Tepaetia 12th and Honolulu 85th.

No. 1 Cincinnati to headline Big Island Invitational

Nationally top-ranked Cincinnati will take on Cleveland State and host Hawaii-Hilo will play Iowa State in the in the first round of the Big Island Invitational Basketball Tournament at Afook-Chinen Auditorium on Nov. 26.

Other first-round pairings are Rhode Island against Santa Clara and Arkansas meeting Mercer.

The semifinals are Nov. 27. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m., Nov. 28.

HPU tennis teams ranked

The Hawaii Pacific men's tennis team is ranked fifth and the HPU women's team 13th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division II fall ratings.

The HPU men's team was 23-4 and ranked seventh at the end of last season.

The women finished at 15-9.
