The Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau has awarded a three-year contract to the Honolulu public relations firm McNeil Wilson Communications Inc. to carry the HVCB's message to the media in North America.

McNeil Wilson won the contract, which starts Jan. 1, in a competitive bid that began after the Hawaii Tourism Authority retained the HVCB as the state's tourism marketing organization. Tony Vericella, HVCB president and chief executive officer, said the firm proposed aggressive and innovative programs that match the HVCB's North American marketing goals and strategies.

McNeil Wilson has been the HVCB's public relations consultant since 1992. Among the firm's clients are the Ala Moana Hotel, Atlantis Adventures, Hawaiian Airlines Inc., the Hawaii Hotel Association, JTB Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
