Back-breaking Endeavour

Photos by Dennis Oda, Star-Bulletin
Yesterday's first day of tours aboard the Endeavour in Kona has
people bending down because of the very low ceilings in parts of
the ship. Below, several eighth-graders approach the ship in canoes
they built themselves. The students are from Kona Pacific and Ohana
Napua, two schools in Kainaliu. They sang a greeting and gave
bananas to the crew. The captain immediately brought them aboard
and gave them a tour of the vessel, which was anchored in Kealakekua
Bay before sailing to Kailua-Kona. It arrives in Honolulu next
week. Story and more photos in Features.
