Former Sea Warrior Joan Lilio recorded a match-high 18 kills for the Silverswords.
HPU improved to 18-2 overall and 6-2 in the PacWest, while Chaminade dropped to 8-8, 3-4.
The Sea Warriors travel to Hilo to play the Vulcans today.
Seasiders advance to tennis semifinals
Brigham Young-Hawaii's Petra Gaspar and Tagifano So'onalole advanced to the semifinal rounds of the NCAA Division II Rolex National Small College Tennis Championships.Gaspar, last year's Division II Player of the Year, defeated Ferris State's Jennifer Garvey, 6-4, 6-0, to advance to today's singles semifinal round.
The doubles team of Gaspar and So'onalole dominated Eastern New Mexico's Julie Stiles and Layla Turner, 6-1, 6-2, to advance in doubles play.
The doubles semifinals and final will be played today, with the finals in singles finishing tomorrow. Winners advance to the Rolex "Super Bowl" of Small College Tennis Oct. 23-24.
Maryknoll girls tops
Maryknoll clinched the ILH girls' bowling championship with a 3-0 victory over Punahou yesterday at the Ft. Shafter Lanes.The Spartans, 30-3 with one match remaining, and runner-up Kamehameha (21-9) have sewed up the two ILH berths in the state championship tournament.
Jones at Na Koa Club
Hawaii football coaches June Jones and Mike Cavanaugh are scheduled to speak at the Na Koa Football Club luncheon Monday at the Waialae Country Club.Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., with the program running from noon to 1 p.m. Cost is $11 per person.
