Residents want to keep

Star-BulletinA group that collected signatures to convince the Liquor Commission not to grant Gloria Bridal Services a liquor license wants to make sure the denial is on firm ground.
Marguerite Ige, spokeswoman for Kapahulu Neighbors, asked the commission yesterday to delay until Thursday the adoption of findings of fact to guarantee it has on file an accurate number of verified signatures in opposition.
The commission voted for the one-week delay and agreed to allow representatives of the group to meet with commission staff to go over the data and ensure accuracy. There are 23 valid names that did not get recorded and the group wants these names entered in commission files, Ige said.
The number of signatures entered in the files July 29 showed 53.1 percent of property owners within 500 feet of the bridal establishment at 3050 Monsarrat Ave. opposed granting the liquor license, she said.
Once the additional 23 names are added, the percentage of opposing property owners will be 66.8 percent, she said outside the commission room.
Kapahulu Neighbors wants the City Council to nail down barring a liquor license at that location and needs all the valid evidence it can bring to bear, Ige said.
