"THE PRODUCERS" OPENS AT DHT: It was a great night for cast members Daniel James Kunkel (Franz Liebkind), left, Don Nahaku (Leo Bloom), Renee Noveck (Ula), Dennis Proulx (Max Bialystock) and Twan Matthews (Carmen Ghia) as they celebrated the opening of Diamond Head Theatre's long-anticipated production of "The Producers" May 16 at the post-show cast party at Ryan's. MANOA VOICES CELEBRATE: Hula dancer Ku'ulei Hazlewood joined Manoa Voices -- Saphronia Smith, left, Justin Ka'upu, Rosanna Perch and Chadwick Pang -- to celebrate the release of the group's self-titled debut album with an acoustic concert May 17 at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. Manoa Voices won the Ka Himeni Ana acoustic singing contest in 2007, so performing without microphones and an PA system was not a problem. "PORTS OF CALL" WAS A BALL:The dress code was "black-tie or formal ethnic attire," so auction chairwoman Uli Cutter, center, wore an Austrian dirndl as she supervised the silent auction at "Ports of Call," the 11th Annual Symphony Ball, May 17 at the Hawaii Convention Center. Kelly Sanders, left, Jeff Mintor, Roseann Grippo, Carissa Clark, Joe Shorba and David Shamblin joined her in celebrating the success of one of the year's best big-scale fundraising events.
