Individual hoops tickets on sale

Individual game tickets for the University of Hawaii men's basketball season and packages for the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic are on sale.

Tickets are available at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, the Rainbowtique at Ward Centre, Aloha Stadium, the UH Campus Center and Windward Community College. They can also be purchased on the Internet at HawaiiAthletics.com and over the phone at 944-BOWS.

Tickets are available in two tiers. Tickets for Tier I are $20 (lower level, single seats only), $15 (upper level adult). Tier II tickets in those sections are $15 and $11. Upper-level tickets are $5 for students (ages 4-18) and $3 for UH students. Super Rooter tickets (UH students only) are $5.

Rainbow Classic packages are $84 (lower level) and $64 (upper level).

Vivas named to volleyball coaches hall of fame

Sandra Vivas, a 1973 Punahou graduate, is one of four 2004 inductees to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Vivas is joined by Washington University coach Teri Clemens, Long Beach State assistant and Volleyball Hall of Famer Debbie Green and UCLA coach Al Scates.

Vivas was the AVCA's first full-time executive director, and served the organization for 17 years. She also has been on the board of directors for USA Volleyball, and been on the Women's Sports Foundation and the Coaches Advisory Roundtable.

During her time with the AVCA, membership increased from 200 to 3,200.

Wahine remain second in poll

The Rainbow Wahine volleyball team (21-0) remained the second-ranked team in the country according to the latest USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Washington remained in first place, with 60 of 65 first-place votes. However, Nebraska, ranked No. 3 in the country, gained three first-place votes, compared to two for the Wahine.
