RUSSELL GOES "HOLLYWOOD":Russell Tanoue, center, was exhausted but happy as Donna Chun, left, Jordan Segundo, Juliet Lighter and Sondra Barker wished him well during his birthday party fund-raiser, "Welcome to Hollywood," at the Ocean Club on Saturday. Segundo was one of several celebrities who entertained the partiers who bought tickets to the private party that started at 7 p.m. and included a special Ocean Club buffett. Tanoue's party raised $10,000 for the American Cancer Society, Project Shine and heart disease survivor Brad Baseul.
MARLENE'S BACK!: Marlene Baldueza sang during the private party, then had to go to another event before returning to join her boyfriend, Žlan. Baldueza, who displayedpoise and stage presence during performances, said afterward that she's learned a lot more about performing by working solo than she ever did as a member of a group.
BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN BLACK: Justine Michioka, left, Ocean Club waitress Amy Long and teenage recording artist Tani Lynn looked great in black as they talked in the VIP area. Tani Lynn was chaperoned by her parents so she could stay on and enjoy the party for a while after she sang "My Heart Will Go On" in Tanoue's honor.
LAKA CHECKS IN: Laka Carpenter stopped to talk with Madelaine Blue, center, and Jane Loo, as they enjoyed the buffet before the formal show started. Video clips showed Russell Tanoue at work. Sonya Mendez, Anita Hall, Shane Lani and the Hypersquad Dancers also entertained.
HEATING UP "HOLLYWOOD": Sondra Barker, center, welcomed Malia Song, left, and Liana Green as "Hollywood" heated up. Actress Fran Gendrano arrived as soon as she could get out of her make-up for "Once Upon One Time" at the Hawaii Theatre. Gerard Elmore and Kaitlyn Metcalf compared their experiences on "North Shore."
