Elmer Awong, 50, of Honolulu, a bus operator for Oahu Transit Systems, died Tuesday in Kuakini Medical Center. He was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. Perfecta Jualiana A. Diniega, 74, of Honolulu, a Laoag Intermediate School teacher in the Philippines, died April 22 at home. She was born in San Agustin Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines. She is survived by sons Benny, Felipe, Mario and Orlando; daughters Marilyn Marteney, Elsa Rarangol, Evelyn Carnate and Romana Tadeo; brother Felix Acosta; sister Aurora Acosta; and seven grandchildren. William Ortiz, 83, of Pearl City, a retired janitor, died Tuesday. He was born in Hawaii. He is survived by companion Mary R. Feliciano, sons John Sr. and Paul DeSoto Sr., daughter Vivian Kilborn, sisters Lena Burerro and Elizabeth Ferrucci, and many grandchildren.
