Seasiders keep
streak alive in
championship rematch


The No. 1 Brigham Young-Hawaii women's tennis team ran its unbeaten streak to 54 with a 5-4 win over Armstrong Atlantic State in a rematch of last year's national championship game yesterday.

Adrienn Hegedus lost the first match of her career after 56 wins. Current No. 2 Zsofia Golopencza beat Hegedus, who is No. 1 in the nation, 6-3, 7-5. Her five teammates let her down, though, with each of them being swept by the Seasiders. BYUH lost all three doubles matches but improved to 25-0 this season.

Seasider men win: Jan Krejci beat Dale White and the BYUH men stomped Armstrong Atlantic 7-2 to improve to 19-1 this year.

Carll, Hall team up for Aloha PGA win

Kevin Carll and Matt Hall held their lead on the final day and won the Aloha Section PGA Pro-Pro Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club Wednesday.

Carll, the head professional at Ko Olina, and Hall, the Director of Golf at Turtle Bay Resort, shot a 67 to finish with a 14-under par 130. Ron Castillo Sr. and Larry Stubblefield closed with a 64 but finished a shot behind the winners.

Carll and Hall split $3,000 of the $11,500 purse.

Lee coming home for wrestling camp

NCAA national champion and Saint Louis School product Travis Lee will be the head clinician at the Iolani Wrestling Clinic held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9-13 in the Father Bray Gym.

Lee won the NCAA national championship for Cornell in the 125-pound weight class this year. Contact 943-2208 for more information.

Gowdy joins Bloch as All-American

Hawaii swimmer Cheyne Bloch and diver Mike Gowdy were named All-Americans last weekend for their performances in the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas.

It is the second straight honor for Bloch, who finished in eighth place in the 200 breaststroke to earn his honor. Gowdy joined the list by scoring 293.05 points in 1-meter diving competition.

Wahine basketball banquet April 13

The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine basketball banquet will be held April 13 at the Ala Moana Hotel's Hibiscus Room.

No-host cocktails start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30.
