Melissa Coogan tossed a five-hitter and the Hawaii softball team won the Malihini Tournament yesterday with a 2-0 victory over Buffalo at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Coogan (11-2) walked none and struck out five in the complete-game victory. She got all the runs she needed in the third on Tracie Uchima's single to right that scored Marie Jackson from second.

The Wahine (14-7) added an insurance run in the sixth when pinch runner Ashley Ruff scored on a double steal. Hawaii finished the event 5-0.

Buffalo (6-5) took second. Coogan was named the tournament's most outstanding pitcher and Baylor's Kelly Osburn was the most outstanding player.
