Wahine warm up with
annual alumnae game


The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine softball team will play the Alumnae in their annual game tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

An autograph session will be held at 4 p.m. and fans can watch batting practice starting at 4:30 p.m.

UH coach Bob Coolen is starting his 12th season and has a career record of 416-258-1.

Pro Bowl Camp to run on UH practice fields

The 2003 Pro Bowl Football Camp runs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the University of Hawaii practice fields. The $215 cost also includes a ticket to the Feb. 2 Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

The camp is hosted by former NFL defensive back Stephen Braggs and instructors include NFL, college and high school coaches.

Xterra Maui event gets national audience

The Nissan Xterra World Championship from Wailea, Maui, will be aired on CBS at 7 a.m. Hawaii time on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Xterra was run Oct. 27 and featured 1999 Miss Hawaii Candes Gentry and 443 other athletes trying the 1-mile swim, 20-mile bike ride up Haleakala and a 7-mile trail run.

Road runners taking another 3-mile stroll

The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club is sponsoring a 3-mile run Sunday at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio starting at 7:15 a.m.

The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club, which has been in existence for 40 years, organizes 26 races this year.

The entry fees are $5 for nonmembers and $2 for members. For information, call 295-6777.

>> Alexus Foyle, Brigham Young-Hawaii basketball: The senior forward had games of 35, 34 and 23 points to help the Seasiders go 2-1 on their first conference road trip to earn PacWest Player of the Week honors. Foyle hit 63 percent from the field in the three games and leads the conference in scoring with 26 ppg. His closest rival scores 18.3 ppg.

>> Aaron Abrams, Hawaii Pacific basketball: Abrams picked up the slack for injured Nic Walters, launching 64 shots and scoring 78 points over a three-game road trip for the Sea Warriors. The junior from San Diego jumped from 12th in scoring to ninth.
