New film gives
Oahu a bounce

"The Big Bounce," filming on Oahu through December, may be the sexiest film shot here based on the latest script dated Oct. 28 that includes R-rated scenes involving nude sunbathing, skinny-dipping and assorted sex romps -- this on top of explicit dialogue.

The North Shore will get as much exposure as it did in "Blue Crush," though "Bounce" uses the surfing theme as background for the intertwining plots between scamming characters played by Morgan Freeman, Sara Foster, Owen Wilson, Gary Sinise and Gregory Sporleder. The nude scenes fall to Foster, a former "Entertainment Tonight on MTV" host, who plays a 19-year-old who successfully seduces Wilson's character. The pair begin a passionate relationship based on "cheap thrills and kicks," or the bounce as she explains.

Owen Wilson, now starring in "I Spy," is in the cast of "The Big Bounce."

North Shore filming includes Haleiwa town locations such as Da Hui Surf Shop, Waialua Courthouse, Miura's Store, Haleiwa Joe's, Alii Beach Park and Haleiwa Supermarket. Other locations include Pupukea Heights, Waimea Falls Park, Banzai Pipeline, Sunset Beach, Laniakea and Velzyland. There also are scenes at Kahana Bay on the Windward side, Ko Olina in Ewa, the Waialua Sugar Mill, Mokuleia and Dillingham Air Field (where Owens and Foster make their escape aboard a Gulfstream IV private jet) in Waialua.

The soundtrack includes, yet again, Israel Kamakawiwoole's "Over the Rainbow," plus tunes from Bob Marley, David Bowie, Doug Sahm, Moby Grape and a few Rolling Stones hits.

Perusing the film's script, the Hawaii miscues are minor: Kilauea Volcano is referred to as "Mount Kilauea," a hurricane off Mexico is said to be generating a west swell for Hawaii -- which is geographically impossible! -- and Eddie Aikau's disappearance is from "a boat," not the Hawaiian voyaging canoe Hokulea.

And in the category of firsts, Hawaiian activists are called "menehune huggers" and Hawaiians "coconut niggers."
