Hawaii receiver Britton Komine, who caught eight passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns in UH's 59-34 victory, was nominated for Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week.

In his first start, Komine entered the Warrior record book with the third-best receiving-yardage game in school history. The top five individual receiving-yardage games are all within the past four years, since coach June Jones installed the run-and-shoot offense.

"This is a good offense for any receiver," Komine said. "If you know how to run good routes and catch the ball, you can play."

Boise State running back Brock Forsey was named offensive player of the week today. He rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns in the Broncos' 52-24 victory at Tulsa.

UH junior Hyrum Peters was nominated for defensive player of the week honors.

Hurricane hurting: Even with 5-1 Boise State in the equation, Hawaii's last four opponents have an overall record of 8-17.

Don't look now, but here comes another cupcake: Tulsa, UH's opponent Saturday, is 0-7. The Hurricane have the longest ongoing losing streak in the nation at 16 games.

Jones said he's taking nothing for granted. After all, the Hurricane did beat Hawaii 24-14 in 2000, the last time they played at Aloha Stadium.

"We'll approach it the same way we do every game," he said. "Play hard, take care of the football and take it away."

Tulsa senior linebacker Michael Dulaney missed the season opener, but has been a force since. He was in on eight tackles and intercepted a pass against Boise State.

Peters still pickin': With seven games to go, Hawaii safety Hyrum Peters has tied the school record for interception touchdown returns in a season (the one he scored on a lateral from La'anui Correa counts, according to UH media relations director Lois Manin).

Peters returned an interception 64 yards for a score against Nevada on Saturday, tying Quincy LeJay who ran three back in 1999.

The NCAA record of four was also set in 1999, by California's Deltha O'Neal.

Short yardage: Hawaii's defense has scored five touchdowns this season. ... Defensive end Travis LaBoy was credited with five quarterback hurries Saturday and has eight for the season. ... UH has scored more than 30 points in eight consecutive games.
