Surf culture is sizzling, what with Sheryl Crow hanging 10 in her music video "Soak up the Sun," Disney's "Lilo and Stitch," set in Hawaii, and female surfers in "Blue Crush," scheduled to open here Aug. 16, attempting to conquer the North Shore's Banzai Pipeline. Now the Laguna, Calif., Art Museum opens an exhibit Sunday on "Surf Culture: The Art History of Surfing," and explores how the ancient Hawaiian pursuit of he'e nalu or wave sliding became an all-American pastime.

Celia Cruz, who's performing with her West Coast "orquesta" tonight on Maui and tomorrow night at the Sheraton-Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom, received four Latin Grammy nominations yesterday for best record, album, salsa album and music video. The awards ceremony will be held Sept. 18 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and televised on CBS.
