Sunny local sights
wing their way to Japan

A Fuji TV morning show will
broadcast live from Hawaii

Star-Bulletin

Hawaii will get some new exposure in Japan next week as a popular Japanese television station broadcasts live from the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel in Waikiki, bringing Hawaii's sun, surf and song to an audience experiencing the Japanese winter.

"Mezamashi TV," a morning information program on Fuji TV that translates as "Wake Up TV," will show Wednesday and Thursday.

It will update the Japanese on Hawaii's attractions, shopping and dining and portray the islands as a good and safe place to visit.

Highlights will include a guest appearance by a star from Tube, a pop band known in Hawaii and Japan.

There will also be hula and other Hawaii performing arts, as well as visits to the Sony Open golf tournament, taking place Jan. 7-13 at the Waialae Country Club.
