Women’s world title
boxing tonight

Junior bantamweights Tracy Moulton of the U.S. and Kathy Williams of Canada will go four rounds in a world title fight tonight at the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom.

In the co-main event of the five-fight card that begins at 7 p.m., Russian silver medalist Serguei Liakhovich goes up against U.S. fighter Bradley Rone in an eight-round bout.

Roughwater swim soon

The 31st Waikiki Roughwater Swim will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 4.

The 2 1/2-mile swim across Waikiki Bay is for all swimmers who want to enter.

There will be staggered starts starting at 9 a.m. with five minute intervals. The field will be divided into groups of approximately 150 to 200 people

The starting line is at Sans Souci Beach, and the finish is at Duke Kahanamoku Beach.

The late registration fee is $35.

Biathlon at Kailua

The fifth annual Sand and Surf Biathlon, a one-mile ocean swim and five-mile beach run, is Sept. 24 at Kailua Beach Park.

There also is a keiki swim in age groups from under-10 through 15-18.

The entry fee for adults is $20 per individual, $40 per team. For youngsters, it's $15 and $30.

The biathlon begins at 7 a.m., the keiki swim at 7:30 a.m., both at the Kailua Beach Pavilion.

The event is a benefit for the Aulea Swim Club and the HUMUMasters Swim Team.

Bowling championships

The Hawaii State Match Game Bowling Championships are set for Saturday through Monday at Aiea Bowl.

Qualifying starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with the finals starting at the same time Monday.

The winner receives $1,500, based on 60 entries, and will represent Hawaii in the American Bowling Congress Masters in Reno, Nev., in June 2001.

Fleisher to defend title

Bruce Fleisher, the 1999 EMCKaanapali Classic winner and 2000 Senior PGATour leader in tournaments and money won, will defend his title at Kaanapali's North Course, Oct. 16-22.

Fleisher has won $2,002,906 in prize money this year.

So far, 22 of this year's top 50 Senior PGA Tour money winners have committed to the Maui event.

Judo clinic coming up

Hawaii Tokai International College invites all judoka to participate in a judo clinic, Sept. 14, from 6-8 p.m., at the Tokai University Pacific Center, 2241 Kapiolani Blvd.

There will be skill instruction and participants will be able to practice with the Tokai University women's team that won the 2000 All-Japan Collegiate Championships.

The registration fee is $5. For more information, call 983-4118.
