KHON News has lost one of its most experienced journalists in an apparent contract dispute.

Barbara Marshall, who's been with the Fox affiliate for about 21 years, has resigned over what a station executive described as an unresolved contract issue.

"Basically, there was a dispute over her contract," said Jim McCoy, KHON news director. "Suffice it to say we didn't resolve it."

McCoy declined to elaborate. Marshall was not immediately available for comment.

Marshall was KHON News' executive producer the last three years. Prior to that she was a reporter covering courts and several other beats.

In another KHON departure, reporter and backup anchor Linda Jameson also has resigned to join a Honolulu public relations company, McCoy said. Jameson, whose last day at KHON is Thursday, has worked at KHON on and off for about 10 years, he said.

The vacant posts have not been filled. Former Star-Bulletin administrative editorial assistant Bill Souza has been hired as KHON's weekend assignment editor, McCoy said.
