HPU sweeps
Seattle Pacific on road

Second-ranked Hawaii Pacific defeated Seattle Pacific yesterday, 17-15, 15-9, 15-9, at Seattle.

HPU improved to 14-2 overall and 3-2 in the Pacific West Conference. Seattle Pacific dropped to 15-3 and 5-2.

Debbie Sant' Anna led HPU with 13 kills and Gisele Rocha had 12, and the Sea Warrior defense held SPU to a .160 hitting percentage.

Hans L'Orange Field turns 75 years old

The 75th anniversary of Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Baseball Field will be celebrated Oct. 16 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The day-long celebration will feature a dedication of the park's expansion and the unveiling of a Waipahu "Legends in Sports Commemorative Monument."

There will be no admission charge for the celebration, which includes ethnic food booths, arts and crafts, children's games and live entertainment.

Au No. 25 college golfer

Elisha Au, from Waikoloa, Hawaii, is ranked No. 25 in the October edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings.

The rankings are posted at chili.collegesportsnews.com.

Au attends the University of Washington.

Ulbrich, Bown at QB Club

The Honolulu Quarterback Club has selected Hawaii linebacker Jeff Ulbrich and volleyball player Heather Bown as male and female Sportspersons of September, respectively.

They will be recognized at Monday's weekly meeting at the Pagoda. Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. and the program starts at noon.

Semi-pro football combine

The Na Kani Koa semi-pro football men's combine is tomorrow at the Kalihi Valley District park, at 2 p.m.

They are also trying to form a women's football team.
