A tribute to Terry

During the late 1970s, Luke's lens captured the bitter conflicts over land use, an issue that continues today. The top photo was taken on Sand Island in 1979, the one at below, at Waiahole-Waikane in 1977.



The eruption of Kilauea volcano in January 1960 would eventually destroy the town of Kapoho. Luke was on the scene to record this catastrophe.



Sometimes the art of photography was just to make them laugh. In 1980, TV star Gary Coleman and sumotori Jesse Kuhaulua visited the state Capitol at the same time, resulting in this delightful image.
